Wanneer terugspoelen nodig is (gedetecteerd door een drukverhoging van 0,5 bar), wordt de hendel gedraaid (handmatig of automatisch), waardoor de cartridge draait en vuil wordt weggespoeld door een tangentiële waterstroomontwerp.
